Detoxing With Sea Moss

Seam Moss Juices for Detoxing

Following a juice diet to detox and lose weight has become a more popular thing in recent times. Juicing is an easy way to get a hit of essential nutrients including key vitamins and minerals, without the impact of too much fiber, and what can give us the most minerals with the least digestion needed - SEA MOSS!

This may sound counter-intuitive, but as we look at the best weight loss juice recipe type, taking pressure off the digestive system helps A LOT by allowing your digestive system to purge any plaque or built up from food that hasn’t been able to move through your system.

At H&H, we first learned about juicing through our elders and our cultural idols. Growing up we were accustomed to having a spoon of honey mixed with Bentonite Clay, Psyllium Husk and seeds thrust into my mouth after walking through the front door! None the less after years and years of being subject to our mother’s unheard of and unorthodox approaches of getting our minerals in, our subconscious approach to health and wellness had been implanted for the rest of our lives.

At H&H, we practise what we preach, and we have exposed ourselves to extensive experimentation and trial error when it comes to the best weight loss juice recipe is.

Here we have noted down some important fats when it comes to juice detoxing;

Why juices are good for you

Nutritionists say that we should eat a minimum of 6 to 8 portions of vegetables each day. A lot of us struggle to do this, which is where juicing comes in.

Getting your greens is easier when you can drink them down. And when this is done in conjunction with an intermittent fasting plan, the weight will begin to fall off easily.

If you find that you normally struggle to get your daily intake of veggies, then this could be the answer you are looking for.

Let me walk you through a few of the benefits you could expect to see as a result of a juice fast using any of the suggestions here from the best weight loss juice recipe list.

What is Detox Juice?

But first, what the heck is a detox juice? A detox juice is made from a specific selection of fruits and vegetable to deliver a specific set of vitamins and minerals in the most effective way for your body to absorb.

By juicing these, and taking the bulk of the fiber out, as mentioned in the opening, your digestive system will be able to work with less load.

Your body still gets what it needs to feed itself, and a detox juice helps to build your blood, which is very important in the healing process.

So what will you need? A good quality electric juicer will do the trick. Personally, I use a cold press juicer that was purchased online for under $100.00.

It’s not a name brand unit, in fact, I’d never heard of the brand when I discovered it, and it works fine. When you find something that is in your price range, and has good reviews, you should be fine.

An electric juicer is going to make things so much easier for you. This will be a great way to make sure that a juice detox is stuck to for the required time.

If it is hard work, you’re much less likely to keep at it, so choose wisely, and make this as easy for yourself as you can.

How long should I drink my detox juice for?

This is up to you really, but, anything less than 7 days is not likely to have the results that most people are looking for. When I do a juice fast I normally aim for 30 days.

During this time I stick with the juice I have made from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm. After that I only drink water. Check out the article on the benefits of intermittent fasting to get the most out of this.

This may sound a little full on to you if you are considering this for the first time. But that’s OK. Take your time and work up to it.

You may find that the first few times you attempt the juice fast that you only make it part way through the day before you have the urge to eat. If this is so strong that you can’t ignore it, eat an apple and see how you go a little while after that.

While drinking my detox juice I take it slowly. I don’t just gulp it down. I will drink it one mouthful at a time, and I will chew each mouthful. I know that sounds strange; chewing a mouthful of juice. But trust me, it helps with digesting the juice.

When you chew, enzymes are released into your saliva which your body needs to help with the process. So, digestion actually begins in the mouth. Here’s a tip: chew your food!

By only drinking the detox juice during this time I am allowing my body to go through the detox cycle that it needs to. Giving myself enough time to ‘clean house’ I can then get the most out of the detox juice when I have it.

The great thing about these weight loss juice recipes is that they will help to get things moving.

Benefits of detox juicing

By following through on a juice fast you will be able to give your body a bit of a vacation. This much needed break will allow your system to purge the toxins that have built up, which you may not even notice are slowing you down.

After a detox juice fast you are likely to notice that you feel much better than you possibly have in a long time. Some of the benefits that I have found which come from a juice fast include:

  • Quick weight loss
  • Better absorption of nutrients in food
  • More good gut bacteria and a better gut bacteria balance
  • Reduced flatulence
  • Easier bowel movements
  • Lower LDL (cholesterol) levels
  • A better functioning liver and kidneys
  • Improve blood sugar level stability
  • A large reduction in the dreaded hunger shakes and dizziness
  • Clearer skin
  • More stamina and general higher energetic feeling
  • More mental clarity and a significant reduction in brain fade or fogginess

A lot of the improvements have obvious flip sides to them. If you’re not feeling good you’re most likely feeling the opposite end of the scale to the improvements I have noticed and listed here.

Just getting rid of a couple of these that I’ve shared in the list above had me feeling so much better and happier. So, there’s a lot more to the best weight loss juice recipes here than shedding a few unwanted kilos.

As I suggested earlier, there are different way you can go about a juice fast and detox your body. A total juice fast will bring you faster results than interrupting the process with solid food.

If you do feel that you need solid foods, make them fresh fruit and vegetables as much as possible.

To get the most out the detox juice, avoid anything that is not a part of a Vegan diet. This may seem like a big challenge, but if you can do it for a week to give your body a break, you’ll notice a dramatic improvement.

Making your Detox Juice

Using an electric juicer will make life so much easier. You will also get a higher quality end product in your juice.

Manual juicers tend to leave a lot of juice in the fruit and vegetables in comparison. And this is really just money you are throwing away in the end. So the investment in an electric juicer pays for itself in the volume and quality of juice you can extract.

First I need to share with you some critical steps to take before you juice your fruit and vegetables. When you buy these from the supermarket they will most likely be covered in stuff you don’t want to have in your body.

Things like pesticides, waxes, and other chemicals that are intended to improve their visual appeal and shelf life. These things won’t improve your visual appeal or shelf life, so we need to get rid of them.

How to prepare your produce for Safe Juicing

Washing

  1. Step 1 – Wash all of your fruits and vegetables thoroughly. Wax covered apples will need to be soaked in water that is hot enough to soften the wax and wash it off.

Pesticides can largely be taken care of by adding 1/4 of a cup of Apple Cider Vinegar to a tub of water; allow the fruit and vegetables to sit in the water and soak for 5 to 10 minutes.

Where there are stickers or glue on the outer of your produce, cut these off and discard them. Do not put these through your juicer.

I don’t think I need to state the obvious when it comes to dirt on your fruit and vegetables. This will impact the taste if it left on.

Cutting & Peeling

Step 2 – Cut your fruits and vegetables into chunks that are small enough to fit in your juicer’s chute.

  1. Only remove peels that will taint the juice. Most of the nutrients are concentrated in the peel of these products, like apples, carrots, and beetroot, so leave the peel on where you can.
If you are juicing citrus, a little peel is OK, too much can be very tart. Tops on strawberries and celery are fine. The leaves have valuable nutrients too.

However, do not juice rhubarb leaves; these are toxic.

Juicing

Step 3 – Slowly feed all of your chopped ingredients into your juicer. Overloading your juicer will impact on its efficiency, and you may burn the motor out sooner than you want to.

  1. Looking after your juicer, including thoroughly cleaning it as soon as you are done, will help make it last longer so you get more out of it.

When it comes to losing weight, detoxing your digestive system, and helping you body to heal, a juice fast is one of the most effective ways of getting results

Once you have managed a juice detox, the next step would be Fasting;

FASTING

Combining Sea Moss with Fasting is an excellent way to allow the body to organically self-detox and flush out toxins from your body. Whether you choose intermittent fasting for day fasting, Sea Moss can be of benefit to you when fasting.

Although Sea Moss has great benefits with shorter fasts, it really gets the chance to show off its amazing benefits over a longer fasting period.

There are a few types of fasts which you can undertake:

Intermittent fast for part of the day

This is where you create an eating window and must abstain from consuming any calories outside this window.

For example, undertaking a 16:8 fast could mean that you set a certain eating window and allow yourself to consume food between 12pm and 8pm, and fast the remaining hours.

Fast a day or two a week

As the name implies, take one or two days in a week and abstain from consuming calories for those days.

Depending on how you want to fast, you can completely abstain from calories, or choose to eat a smaller amount, such as 600 calories for these days.

Long term fast

A long term fast is where you abstain from calories for a period longer than 72 hours. While this may sound extreme, it is a fasting method that has proven results.

This is the type of fast that receives the most benefit from consuming Sea Moss.

As with all fasting, please check in with your health care professional before starting to ensure that fasting is suitable for you.

How does Sea Moss and Fasting fit together?

Sea Moss is an extremely useful tool to not only make your fasting easier, but also increase the quality of your fast.

Since you are abstaining from calories, I would recommend you check out our article on water fasting to learn how use water effectively during your fast.

As a tool for fasting, it is beneficial through its:

Potent nutrient content

If you didn’t already know, Sea Moss is well used around the world for a number of remedies. The main reason we use it for fasting is for its amazing nutrient content. Sea Moss is widely believed to contain as many as 92 minerals in it’s raw form.

If you are fasting and abstaining from food, having this added nutrient boost is a great way to ensure you are not depriving your body of any needed nutrients.

If you plan on a long term fast, you will be looking at ways to ensure you are still receiving the required minerals and nutrients. Using Sea Moss Gel mixed in with water can give you most of the nutrients.

It is critical to note that you will still need to check in with your health care professional to ensure you are getting enough of what your individual body needs.

Natural appetite suppressant

Sea Moss is extremely useful for fasting as it is a natural appetite suppressant.

As you are abstaining from food, having something which makes you either feel fuller for longer, or helps to slow your appetite is a wonderful tool.

By using Sea Moss whilst fasting, you can slow your appetite and cravings for food. You can choose to combine it with water and consume it during your fasting period, which can help control cravings.

Alternatively, you can consume it during your eating window (if applicable).

From personal experience in applying a 16:8 intermittent fasting methodology, it is best to consume Sea Moss when you first wake up. This will help with any cravings you may experience before your eating window opens.

I also consumed Sea Moss at the end of my eating window by combining it with foods that are high in fats to help me feel fuller for longer.

Calorie Count

Since there are virtually zero calories to Sea Moss you can consume it during your fasting window without the worry of activating your stomach. A hefty serving of Sea Moss Gel will contain around 2 calories.

If you are really serious about your fasting and want to avoid calories, you probably should abstain from consuming the Sea Moss inside your fasting window. This is not recommended for long term fasting.

However, if you are just looking for a healthier lifestyle, then a small amount of calories is very unlikely to impact your fasting progress.

The benefits far outweigh the very small chance you will come out of the fasted state. The best way to find out if this suits you is to simply try it and see how you feel.

If you are planning on a longer fast, 2 calories mixed in with a large quantity of water should not cause you to come out of a fasted state. The benefits of all the nutrients in Sea Moss are too great to ignore when considering a long term fast.

Once again, if you are considering a long term fast, check in with your health professional. Not only will they be able to assist you with the fasting process, but they will also be able to guide you on getting the required minerals and nutrients your body requires to function.

Notes:

Depending on the type of fast, you should also abstain from any strenuous activity. This means heavy lifting around home and work but can also include intense exercise.

If you are intermittent fasting with a window, you should be fine to continue as normal. Just allow yourself a few days after beginning your fasting plan to let your body adjust to its new eating window.

As for a day or two fasting a week, avoid any labor-intensive activities for your fasting days and continue as normal for your non-fasting days.

For longer-term fasting, ensure you don’t undertake any strenuous activity as your body will be fairly weakened in a fasting state. Doing heavy lifting or intense cardio exercises can cause serious health issues.

Sea Moss fasting can help you get results while still providing your body with the essential minerals it requires.
